Designed to Embrace

The owners of ‘The Boatshed’ approached &Dalecki with a vision for a modest yet modern home that would support their family’s lifestyle, focusing on quality time together and enjoying the outdoors. Prioritising intimate spaces over a large home, they desired a sleek, contemporary coastal aesthetic with functional design and simple materials.

Intertwining indoor and outdoor living, &Dalecki reimagined the layout, creating a ground floor that wraps around the backyard to celebrate family moments. The children's bedrooms open directly onto the yard, blurring boundaries and inviting play.

A thoughtful layout features a designated space for backyard cricket, retaining mature trees while incorporating them into the landscape. Bold black and white surfaces, accented with timber elements, unify the interior and exterior spaces. Large openings throughout the home, along with clerestory and louvre windows, fill the space with natural light and cooling breezes, providing a seamless connection to the outdoors.

The heart of the home is the backyard, central to family life. The oversized carport, designed to house the family’s boat, is a nod to future aspirations for a bigger boat.
